Will Meghan And Harry’s Kids Archie And Lilibet Get The Titles Of Prince And Princess HRH?

After the death of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, September 8, a lot changed for the royal family. Many of their titles changed, especially with the succession of King Charles III. Prince William and Kate Middleton became the Prince and Princess of Wales, leaving behind the Duke and Duchess of Cambridges. While Prince Harry and Meghan remain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their children Archie and Lilibet have been raised.

What are Archie and Lilibet’s new royal titles after the Queen’s death? Why haven’t their titles changed on the Royal Family’s website?

The children of three and one are now also technically a prince and a princess since their grandfather took the throne. According to Hello! Magazine, these rules were established by King George V in 1917 and they made it official that children of a sovereign’s son may use a title of his or her Royal Highness “if they wish”.

The kids are a little too young to wish for anyway, but people are still wondering why their title hasn’t been updated on the royal website, even though Wales’ names have changed. William and Kate’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were also listed as ‘from Wales’, as were Mom and Dad. Archie and Lilibet are still considered “Master” and “Miss” on the site.

What did the king say about Lili and Archie’s titles?

Nothing officially, but on Saturday, Sept. 10, the king’s spokesman said in a statement that their names will be updated “when and when we get information.”

Will Archie and Lili get HRH’s titles as Prince and Princess?

There is a chance that King Charles III could refuse the titles of Lili and Archie HRH, even if they held prince and princess titles. Harry, of course, lost his HRH title when he stepped down from a senior working member of the Royal Family. As a source told The Sun this week, Meghan and Harry want their children to get HRH to provide them with taxpayer-funded royal protection while in the UK.

“Harry and Meghan were concerned about the security issue and being Prince and Princess entitles them to certain levels of royal security,” a source said. “There have been many conversations over the past week. They have insisted that Archie and Lilibet are prince and princess. They’ve been ruthless since the Queen died. But they are furious that Archie and Lilibet can’t take the title HRH. That’s the deal: they can be prince and princess, but not HRH because they’re not royals.”

Page Six reports that Charles will not make a decision on the children’s new titles or anyone else’s until the Queen’s official mourning period ends on September 26.

Why did Kate and William’s children immediately update their titles, but not Meghan and Harry’s?

The information that enabled Kate and William and their family to get updated titles came from the monarch himself, who announced in a speech that they would be the Prince and Princess of Wales. In that same speech, he expressed his love for Harry and Meghan, but did not name titles.

The spokesperson said on Saturday 10 September: “While the website has been updated for the Waleses, updating love on a website obviously doesn’t quite work so we haven’t quite done that but he obviously loves them. We will work to update the website as and when we get information.”

He did not confirm or deny that Archie and Lilibet were entitled to their titles regardless of the language the king uses when addressing the nation, but only added: “Right now we are focused on the next 10 days and if and when we get information, we will update that website.”
