UPDATE: The Colombian attorney general says toxicology results showed that Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins had drugs in his system at the time of his death, but did not reveal the cause of his death.
“In the toxicology urine test performed on Taylor Hawkins’s body, 10 types of substances were tentatively found, including: THC (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids,” the government agency said in a statement. Twitter Saturday afternoon, March 26.
The statement continued to say that the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences is continuing its medical investigation to “gain total clarification of the facts leading to the musician’s death” and that “the office of the nation’s Attorney General will continue the investigation and will report the results obtained under it in a timely manner.”
Colombian authorities have opened an investigation into the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
The legendary rock band announced in a statement on Friday, March 25 that the 50-year-old musician had died, without explanation. He stayed in a hotel in Chapinero, a town in the Colombian capital Bogota, before he died that day.
On Saturday, March 26, the Colombian Attorney General’s office in a statement on Twitter that Hawkins’ death is under investigation. The countries District Secretary of Health said in his own statement that paramedics responded to a call about Hawkins experiencing chest pain. Attempts were made to resuscitate the musician on arrival at the hotel, but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
