Paris Fashion Week got off to a pretty buzzing start: Tuesday morning saw Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest for Dior, and in the evening Saint Laurent staged a catwalk for Anthony Vaccarello’s Spring 2023 debut.
With the Eiffel Tower in the background, the Italian designer presented a compilation of looks inspired by the fashion house’s earlier influences (such as Martha Graham, an American dancer known for her 1930s choreography “Lamentation”) and remarkable silhouettes from the archives (including styles from the collaboration with Claude Lalanne in 1969, the Haute Couture collection from spring 1985 and the Haute Couture line in autumn 2022).
Models circled the fountain on the Champ de Mars, sporting a mix of feminine and masculine looks, with coveted Saint Laurent styles – such as the sheer floor-length maxi dresses and stand-collar jumpsuits – reimagined for the new season in deep berry tones and muted colorways. They were styled with long trenches, strong-shouldered wool coats and short leather bomber jackets.

For Spring 2023, Vaccarello also brings back Yves’ signature hooded ‘hood’ design, originally from the mid-’80s, alternating the soft, slouchy shape with sculptural wooden bracelets, chunky gold earrings and reflective black. sunglasses.
As expected from any Paris Fashion Week at this point, the Blackpink takeover is just around the corner: Jisoo was spotted earlier in the day at Dior’s spring 2023 debut, while Rosé attended the Saint Laurent show in the evening. The “On The Ground” singer was captured during the event wearing black from head to toe, opting for a long sleeve mini dress, embellished with a V-shaped neckline, sheer tights and pointed platform soles.
Other stars at the event included Hailey Bieber (who sat next to the Blackpink singer), “Stranger Things” Natalia Dyer, supermodels Kate Moss and Carla Bruni, musicians Grace Vanderwaal and Brent Faiyaz, and actor Manu Rios.
