Fall wardrobe staples
It’s officially fall! Can you believe it? Texas temps are FINALLY starting to go down and I’m excited to start all the fall stuff! The kids have been urging me to buy Halloween decorations, and I’m all for a good Chai Tea Latte (instead of Pumpkin Spice Latte). One of my favorite things is changing my closet, and I want to share my favorite ways to update your fall wardrobe. Here are three simple and useful tips!

1) Update your base
Now is the time to take stock of your basics and foundation clothing. Breathe new life into your closet by donating or getting rid of something that doesn’t fit, has stains that can’t be removed, is worn/faded, or just doesn’t make you happy anymore. I use Marie Kondo’s method and thank these pieces for their service to me and wish them a new life to make someone else happy.
Then it’s time to add some new basics to your closet. Based on the fall trends, here’s a list of some must-have basics for fall.
Remember, go for a style that is FLATTING FOR YOU! If you love and look confident in skinny jeans, rock those bad boys! It doesn’t matter that baggy jeans are in!

2) Just add leather
Leather was seen everywhere on the catwalks, from large pieces like trench coats to smaller accessories. It adds an elevated touch due to the different texture. You can choose vegan options or not. It’s up to your ethical beliefs and budget! Personally, I love the vegan leather pieces that are out because the quality looks great and the price is more reasonable compared to real leather. Here are some fun options to keep in mind while shopping:
Leather shorts are a great way to pull off a fall look, even when it’s warmer outside. Hello, Texas again! I’m talking to you! Change your regular trouser routine with leather pants and take a simple work outfit to the next level. A leather blazer worn over the shoulder with a dress or tank top adds that editor chic look and is also perfect for dinner when it’s cold outside but warm inside or vice versa. Wear a leather baseball cap for those bad hair days.

3) Falling for faux fur
Last but not least is my FAVORITE way to update your fall wardrobe! Faux fur adds just that luxurious touch to any outfit, and I can’t recommend it enough! If fuzzy pieces aren’t your thing, consider adding a smaller piece, like a faux fur coat or even a plush bag! Even sheepskin shoes have a moment. Again, it’s that texture element that gives your outfit an elevated edge. Here are my favorite faux fur picks:
